Question about The Secret Life Of Bees?

I have to write a story about where the characters are in 1970 (the book takes place in 1964)





I wanted Zach to become a succesfull lawyer, but was that possible in the 1970s? Could it be possible for him to take over Mr. Forrest's law office?Question about The Secret Life Of Bees?
I love this book so much and I think he could have been a lawyer in the 1970's but since he would still be pretty young he could have been working under Mr. Forrest at the law office. Maybe as a junior lawyer or wahtever they're called. I am almost certain he could have been a lawyer in the 70's, historically.
