Ending of The Secret Life of Bees?

I read this book and I absolutely loved it! The only thing is I'm having trouble understanding a bit is the death of the mother (Deborah). Was it really Lily who killed her? Or is her father just making her take the guilt or something like that? Ending of The Secret Life of Bees?
Technically, it was Lily's fault. But T. Ray does make her feel very guilty as well, which is totally wrong but I won't digress because that's not the question. So I would say it's kind of both.Ending of The Secret Life of Bees?
The bees swarmed her for her heretical insubordination. The same fate will be yours if you do not bow to your new arthropod overlords, which were born of hate, darkness, and the pollen of the dark tree of everlasting destruction. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar, and will be punished by being stung to death by The Grand Hive. ALL HAIL THE QUEEN.

Are the Vive Pro & Burt's Bees hair products any good?

I'm looking for a shampoo and conditioner that will hydrate my hair. My hair has been feeling pretty dry lately so I'm looking for something to moisturize. Has anyone tried Vive Pro or Burt's Bees? Are they good? Are the Vive Pro %26amp; Burt's Bees hair products any good?
Vive Pro- A big fan here!

Burts,i like the products that ive used, they work great however never used their shampoo!!! let me know! Are the Vive Pro %26amp; Burt's Bees hair products any good?
Burt's Bees products are, pardon my French, fuxing brilliant

Do you agree the Killer Bees were underrated?

why or why not?Do you agree the Killer Bees were underrated?
The bees were, for a brief shining moment, the best in the WWF. Blair and Brunzell were great as a tag team, but the business moved past them.Do you agree the Killer Bees were underrated?
No. Because, there's no such thing as being underrated.

My husband is allergic to bees and he had to go to the hospital yesterday.?

they prescribed him the epipen shots but what is the point in getting them if you have to come to the er as soon as you take it. i thought that this shot would keep you from having to go to the hospital. he doesn't have a severe attack like not being able to breath or anything he just breaks out from head to toe and his lips went numb and stuff. which is why he went to the hospital but i don't see the point in filling this prescription if he still has to go to the hospital afterwards neways. should i get it filled and whyMy husband is allergic to bees and he had to go to the hospital yesterday.?
Should your husband ever get stung again, having the Epipen might mean the difference between him living or dying. As the others explained, the injection simply helps provide a little more time to get to urgent medical care. Even once the injected, the effects may last only 15 minutes or so and allergic reactions can have a second wave or round. I've been advised by my doctor to have multiple pens on hand, in case I'm not within 10 minutes of a hospital. It doesn't sound like your husband has seen an allergist yet; he really should see one.My husband is allergic to bees and he had to go to the hospital yesterday.?
Just because one reaction may be non-life threatening and only cause a minor reaction, that doesn't mean that his next reaction can't be anaphylactic. In that case, you will need an immediate source of epinephrine (the epipen) and then immediate medical attention. The epipen alone will not cover a severe reaction. He would have to go to the ER and get meds such as benedryl and steroids on top of it. Don't slack when it comes to allergies. Get it filled and you could possibly save his life. Read up on bee stings and anaphylaxis. You need more education than what I feel like giving right now.
I agree. This is actually a very serious attack, and each attack does get worse. The Epipen allows you the time to get to the hospital before the air way closes or the heart stops or the body goes into shock.
B/C not everyone makes it to the hospital before sufficating b/c of airway constriction. This was a near death experience you guys just made it to the hospital in time. If he is this allergic (and he is very deathly allergic w/ the reaction you are describing) the point is for him to carry it in case you guys are too far from the hospital. On the lake, out of town, on the farm? How long would it take you to get to the hospital? He could be dead in 5 minutes b/c each reaction gets worse.

Why are so many bumble bees lethargic ie crawling on the ground not flying off when prodded?

Is it chilly and/or windy? Certain temperatures slow bees down. Wind will cause them to not want to open thier wings for obvious reasons. Why are so many bumble bees lethargic ie crawling on the ground not flying off when prodded?
Temperature is too cool?

Bees crawling on the ground sound a bit like ground hornets to me. Make sure they are not. Very agressive when they are warm enough to move about. Call an exterminator if that is what they are.Why are so many bumble bees lethargic ie crawling on the ground not flying off when prodded?
The weather is too cold. They are still in form of hibernation.
because they have got sik of flowers, they like a little proddin instead!
Carpenter bees look alot like bumble bees.

A friend 5 miles away has the same experience. What are the yellow spots on my car that sits outside.Birds,Bees, air pollution? San Diego,CA?
How big are these yellow spots and how close are you to coniferous or pine forest?

We had a similar problem to this in South Dakota about this time of year as well. The ponderosa release millions of pollen spores, covering everything in a yellow dust, looked at closely you see yellow spots. They can travel like a cloud for many miles.

EDIT: with the information you sent me this seems like the most probable cause:

Actually after some research and your more adcanced description I'm almost positive now that it is caused by bees, check out this article focused on the Southern California area:

What does the saying lets talk about ';the birds and the bees'; actually have to with the conversation????

I have just never understood why when parents are going to talk about sex to their children they refer to it as the birds and bees. If anyone knows why please let me know. What does the saying lets talk about ';the birds and the bees'; actually have to with the conversation????
Well, first off, that expression is SO outdated. But, the way interpret it is that birds are motherly and nurturing (so meaning women) and that the bees, ahem, think with their stingers. They pollinate the flowers and hop from flower to flower..kind of sexist ya think? What does the saying lets talk about ';the birds and the bees'; actually have to with the conversation????
well just think if you had children and have to explain to them about sex you wouldn't want to. no parents want to talk to there children about it..cause when they do they know the time is coming closer for them to b doin it and also letting go..
A different way of saying lets talk about sex. It's more operate to say birds and the bee's in front of kids than sex.
its just a way to use the term more nicely
It's on the same nonsensical level as ';the stork brings the baby';!

Are the bumble/honey bees killed by Genetically Modified (GM) crops?

';Scientists are thus far stumped as to what is causing the decline, ruling out parasites but leaning towards some kind of new toxin or chemical used in agriculture as being responsible.

    ';Experts believe that the large-scale use of genetically modified plants in the US could be a factor,'; reports Germany's Spiegal Online. ';

http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/0,1518,473166,00.htmlAre the bumble/honey bees killed by Genetically Modified (GM) crops?
Careless use of insecticides is much more likely than effects from GM crops. (Imadicloprid) Like Marv mentioned the pattern just doesn't fit. Plenty of collapsed colonies exist in areas with no GMOs

Also the Bt incorporated into GM crops is specifically toxic to a particular order of insects. Some strains of Bt will affect beetles, others flies, and others butterflies/moths. There is no strain of Bt that has been found to be toxic to hymenopterans (ants, bees %26amp; wasps).

The gut parasite they were referring to in that article was probably Nosema. Nosema apis has existed for years. Infection is obvious in the form of bee poop in the front of the hive (it's like dysentery); so the colony may be treated before it crashes. Recently Nosema cerana has been introduced from asia. it lacks the obvious poo splotches on the hive and so may be missed until the colony crashes. This may actually be a contributing factor to CCD with or without Bt gmos.

I like the Einstein quote in der spigiel; it's been traced back as far as the mid 80's. good research folks. Are the bumble/honey bees killed by Genetically Modified (GM) crops?
It doesn't seem to fit the GM crops. If that was going to be the case, you'd see a pattern of where the bees used pollen or nectar from gm crops the disorder would manifest itself. Areas without that would be safe.

The incidence of colony collapse disorder doesn't seem to follow the pattern of bees foraging on gm crops.

The disorder has widely spread very rapidly. Meaning man transported it. Either by moving bees, or by moving something else. Or its not a sickness but is caused by something used in the areas. Maybe a new insecticide or other chemical is causing it. Maybe it doesn't show until a generation or so after exposure. It's hard to tell.

But it's at the point where there is enough information that a good epidemiological study should be possible. Eliminating things not found in all places where the syndrome exists.

People who stand up and say this or that is the cause are probably just frustrated and they have a bias against something, they assume it is the cause. We shouldn't assume they are correct just because it is printed in a news article.

    Marv
In our area, we have had several springs that have been hard on bees. Unusually warm spring weather that bought the trees into blossom, the bees out then a sharp frost. After the frost bees were very scarce.

Yet late in August our lawns, populated with birds foot trefoil were almost back to normal. I do not mean they had recovered completely. What I got to thinking is that for many km around here there are no longer any fields being grown for the sole purpose of providing a continuous food supply for bees. And perhaps that fact is forcing bees to forage in places they have not previously.

I know that back when I was a child we had 4H beekeeping projects with lots of kids making a point to plant varieties of plants that would feed their bees. Well, that was 60 years ago, and there has not been a 4H beekeeping club around for 30 years.

As I recall, back then everyone did any insecticide spraying based on a bee calendar. If they are still doing that, but the bees are out earlier, or later, what happens?

What's causing bees to die off in the US and UK?

I read in the news that US bee populations are down 70% in some areas, and an English friend who keeps bees reckons that there are virtually no bees left in the wild in the UK.

What's causing this... and how will we cope without the bees... apart from importing even more food from abroad...What's causing bees to die off in the US and UK?
Colony losses over the winter months are not totally unexpected and can be caused by disease, bad weather or starvation. Rarely bees have been stolen.

It would appear that there have been a lot of beekeeper reports stating Colony Collapse Disorder.

There is a good article here from April 2007 http://environment.guardian.co.uk/conser鈥?/a>What's causing bees to die off in the US and UK?
    the flowers of evil
What's causing bee's to die off in the US and UK is our cellphone radiation. Thanks to our lovely cellphones, (that most people can't live without) we're losing many many bee's. What we'll have to do is just stop using cellphones so much. I don't think we'll cope too well without the bee's. Bee's pollinate flowers and all... If Bee's go - (most) flowers will go too.
One of the enemies of the bee is the hornet..these attack and kill bees. If extra warm weather occurs..hornets will be bigger and more bees will be killed. the hornets do not sting them but bite.
People with rolled up newpapers Wacking them ... when they start buzzing round them.... I think we will cope just fine without them..
Who knows, lets just blame everything on global warming.
Bee virus is causing it, let's hope the bees build up an immunity
There are virtually no wild honey bees left due to the effects of the varroa mite, which is parasitic.

The varroa mite is now cosmopolitan, being found in Indonesia (Oudemans 1904), Singapore (Gunther 1951), and USSR (Breguetova 1953); it was found on Apis m. mellifera in Hong Kong (Delfinado 1963) and Philippines (Delfinado 1963). It quickly spread to the Peoples Republic of China (Ian Tzien-He 1965), India (Phadke et al. 1966), North Korea (Tian Zai Zai Soun 1967), Cambodia (Ehara 1968), Japan (Ehara 1968), Vietnam (Stephen 1968), Thialand (Laigo and Morse 1969), Czechoslovakia (Samsinak and Haragsim 1972), Bulgaria (Velitchkov and Natchev 1973), South Korea (Delfinado and Baker 1974), Paraguay (Orosi-Pal 1975), Taiwan (Akratanakul and Burgett 1975), Argentina (Montiel and Piola 1976), Poland (Koivulehto 1976) Romania (Orosi-Pal 1975), Urguay (Grobov 1976), Germany (Ruttner 1977), Bangladesh (Marin 1978), Brazil (Alves et al. 1975) Myanmar (Marin 1978), Hungary (Buza 1978), Tunisia (Hicheri 1978), Greece (Santas 1979), Iran (Crane 979), Libya (Crane 1979), Turkey (Crane 1979), Yugoslavia (Santas 1979), Lebanon (Popa 1980), and likely other countries. Again, the mite was first detected in the USA in 1987 and has spread to most of North America.

The life cycle of the varroa mite is synchronized with that of its honey bee host; it may be that hormones or pheromones of honey bees are necessary for the mite to complete its development. The female lays eggs in bee brood cells. Developing mites feed on developing honey bee larvae. Males and females copulate in the cell. The male dies, but pregnant females emerge from the cell along with their bee host and seek another cell to repeat the cycle. It is thought the length of the postcapping period in honey bees is an important indicator of eventual infestation. The longer the postcapping time, the more time there is for more female mites to develop.

We won't cope without the bees. I believe Einstein predicted that should the world bee population die out the human race would follow in four years. I believe that recent modelling has extended the period to seven years, however it is non the less very disturbing.
hornets are killing all european and american bees, they are unco-ordinated in attacks, but the other kinds are fine, like african bees and ARE co-ordinated in attacks
I don't know for Sher because I did not here of this till now. but it could be a disease or lost habitat these are some of the things that kill off all animals. we could go with out Honey even with out importing food just eat it plain or use something else, but we would lose some money on exporting.
TB, brought in here thanks to all the f.......ng immigrants
A parasitic mite ,changes in temperatures, disease and killer bees,

also the spraying for mosquitos kills other insects in advertedly,

and the bee keepers moving the hives around and disinfecting the hives has also very bad effects ,we cannot interfere with Nature and NOT expect anything to happen

90% of the feral (wild) bee population in the United States has died out.

In the Netherlands bee diversity is down 80 percent in the sites researched,

    and that ';bee species are declining or have become extinct in Britain.';

the numbers of wildflowers that depend on pollination have dropped by 70 percent.

If bees continue to die off so would the crops they support and with that would ensue major economic disruption and possibly famine.

Bees are not the only polinators but if these things are happening to bees we can bet on it that other insects are also in trouble ,on top of this many people are spraying for mosquitos ,with drastic effects .

so much follows the insects in the food chains ,that we can expect a lot of very bad changes in the environment .

Albert Einstein said ,that when the bees disappear we have 4 more years to live

only time will tell what is in store for us ,and that time is running now .
I think GM foods may have something to do with Colony collapse syndrome, but that subject seems to have been conveniently forgotten.
The alarming decline in bee populations across the United States and Europe represents a potential ecological apocalypse, an environmental catastrophe that could collapse the food chain and wipe out humanity. Who and what is behind this flagrant abuse of the eco-system?

Many people don't realize the vital role bees play in maintaining a balanced eco-system. According to experts, if bees were to become extinct then humanity would perish after just four years.

';If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe then man would only have four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man,'; said Albert Einstein.

Others would say four years is alarmist and that man would find other food sources, but the fact remains that the disappearance of bees is potentially devastating to agriculture and most plant life.

Reports that bee populations are declining at rates of up to 80% in areas of the U.S. and Europe should set alarm bells ringing and demand immediate action on behalf of environmental organizations. Experts are calling the worrying trend ';colony collapse disorder'; or CCD.

';Bee numbers on parts of the east coast and in Texas have fallen by more than 70 percent, while California has seen colonies drop by 30 to 60 percent,'; reports AFP.

';Approximately 40 percent of my 2,000 colonies are currently dead and this is the greatest winter colony mortality I have ever experienced in my 30 years of beekeeping,'; apiarist Gene Brandi, from the California State Beekeepers Association, told Congress recently.

The article states that U.S. bee colonies have been dropping since 1980 and the number of beekeepers have halved.

Scientists are thus far stumped as to what is causing the decline, ruling out parasites but leaning towards some kind of new toxin or chemical used in agriculture as being responsible. ';Experts believe that the large-scale use of genetically modified plants in the US could be a factor,'; reports Germany's Spiegal Online.

Bee populations throughout Germany have simultaneously dropped 25% and up to 80% in some areas. Poland, Switzerland and Spain are reporting similar declines. Studies have shown that bees are not dying in the hive, something is causing them to lose their sense of orientation so that they cannot return to the hive. Depleted hives are not being raided for their honey by other insects, which normally happens when bees naturally die in the winter, clearly suggesting some kind of poisonous toxin is driving them away.

    ';In many cases, scientists have found evidence of almost all known bee viruses in the few surviving bees found in the hives after most have disappeared. Some had five or six infections at the same time and were infested with fungi -- a sign, experts say, that the insects' immune system may have collapsed.';

A study at the University of Jena from 2001 to 2004 showed that toxins from a genetically modified maize variant designed to repel insects, when combined with a parasite, resulted in a ';significantly stronger decline in the number of bees'; than normal.

    According to Hans-Hinrich Kaatz, a professor at the University of Halle in eastern Germany and the director of the study, the bacterial toxin in the genetically modified corn may have ';altered the surface of the bee's intestines, sufficiently weakening the bees to allow the parasites to gain entry -- or perhaps it was the other way around. We don't know.';

Kaatz was desperate to continue his studies but funding was cut off.
There are certian mites and small hive beetles that are doing lots of damage....and european foul brood...
I'M GUESSING THAT THERE ARE OTHER FOODS,DO NT WORRY TO MUCH THO,BUT IF YOU FIND YOURSELF LOSING TO MUCH SLEEP YOU COULD PANIC BUY AT YOUR LOCAL STORES AND STOCK UP FOR LIFE AS HONEY NEVER GOES OFF AND GENERALLY ONE JAR LASTS MOST PEOPLE FOR LIFE.
Telephone masts, interfering with bees navigation systems. Personally I think it's disgraceful that nothing is done to help our bees. Phone companies should change their systems.

If the bees die off, how long till it effects the human population?

I get different info on this. I read that the main problem will be lack of fruits; grains and potatoes and clonable plants will still be reproduced. From what I have read, there could be some shortage of fruits before too long. Bees are so important in agriculture that hives are shipped from place to place and rented out to farmers at pollination time for their crops.

However, honeybees aren't the only pollinators. There will be others left. And it is likely that even on their own, some resistant bees would start to develop and breed. With help from humans, this process could go even faster.

Honeybee die-offs have happened before, and the numbers recovered. But this is the worst on record.

And yes, researchers are working on it too.If the bees die off, how long till it effects the human population?
4 years is the popular consensus,

at least that is what Einstein saidIf the bees die off, how long till it effects the human population?
According to experts, if bees were to become extinct then humanity would perish after just four years.
A few months to a few years.

Did you learn about the birds and the bees from your parents?

or did you just pick it up from school and the streets?Did you learn about the birds and the bees from your parents?
nope i got to know about it from books.Did you learn about the birds and the bees from your parents?
I don't remember my parents telling me too much info. I learned most things from my older sister and my friends.

I don't know when a good age to tell kids is but this world is crazy so I would definitely tell them there are bad people that could try to touch your no-no-special place and not to let them and to tell an adult. Maybe during that conversation I would tell them that it takes a man and a woman to make a baby, etc. I would use animals and their babies as examples.
    yeah..
My parents had the ';talk'; with I and my sister.
my mum told me an also gave me a book.

i told my daughter at 10 about periods an gave her a pregnancy book then i answered all her questions an explained about std,s an contreception an stuff.

my son on the other hand he is 13 an for a couple of years iv drilled it into him about using condoms an the birds an the bees but he just nervously giggles an makes jokes,,obviously an embarrasing subject,
I picked it up in school...a classmate of mine borrowed a science book from her doctor's office cuz she saw it had some good stuff in it...ok, very juvenile, but that's how kids are when they're curious and know that it's a weird subject with their family, but easy with their peers because they are in the same boat.

If you want your kids to be and act responsible, you have to be the one to sit them down and talk about it, no matter how uncomfortable it is. And the most important factor is, to set the best example you possibly can. Before you do anything, ask yourself if you would want your kid copying you.
Books. Because birds and the bees don't have *****.

Some girls are starting they cycles that early.

I was told by my mother about menstruation and how babys are born. The rest I remember reading it in a kids magazine.

Are there bees in the Caribbean?

My husband and I are going on our honeymoon this saturday to San Juan, St Thomas, St Marten.... I am slightly allergic to bees, and do have an epi pen just in case. I was wondering if there are bees in those areas? And should I be taking it? And are you allowed to carry them on an airplane? Are there bees in the Caribbean?
Of course there are some! We have bees and wasps! Are there bees in the Caribbean?
We have bees but they are not as aggressive as the ones here...
I am form San Juan and there are bees there although they are smaller than the giant things you have in the U.S. I have never been bitten in San Juan but more towards the beachy parts.

also not sure about the epi pen but you can probably call the airline and ask.
Over here in San Juan there are bees thought they are very small but still rarely you get bitten by bees
once there are pollen there are bees , so they are every where how you expect the life cycle to go on. If the are out of control no it's very rare but you can look up on their local news... Enjoy your TRIP !!!! Lovely island....
There are bees in every Caribbean country. Where there are flowers there are bees.
yup there are bees i live in the Carribbean i think u should take it

and who would take bees on a plane? i dont think u have to worry about them being on a plane
yes they are but u have nothing to fear.
    Yes. Check out these links.

  • Some one said to clean the bees wax out of my ears.?

I have decided to clean it out using peroxide. If anyone know how I am to do this please explain. like how many times till it is clean and how much. How often. Or is there a better way using some other idem. Some one said to clean the bees wax out of my ears.?
The ears are self cleaning organs, thats what the wax is

you shouldnt put anything in your ears

you can purchase an audi-clean at the pharmacy which will clean your ears in a non invasive mannerSome one said to clean the bees wax out of my ears.?
The other two answers were very good. I only wanted to add that ';clean the beeswax out of your ears'; is an old expression used when someone seems to have trouble with hearing. Often children are so wrapped up in what they are doing that they are not really listening to their parent or grandparent and the parent or grandparent will get frustrated and say, ';You should clean the beeswax out of your ears -- seems like you have a lot of trouble hearing lately!'; So, I doubt if the person who said it to you actually meant that you had beeswax in your ears or that you really needed to clean them out. :-D
You generally do not want to stick anything in your ears because you can damage your ear drum. And for the most part, when someone says ';Clean the bees wax out of your ears'; it because maybe you didn't hear them or something, it is a saying more than anything. Plus ear wax does not really keep your from hearing, so don't worry about that.

However, if you really do want to clean them, ask your parents to show you how to use a Q-tip, you don't really want to stick it far in your ear though because you will be packing more wax down than you will get out. As far as using water or peroxide, you need to do it with a syringe like the doctors do.

Another method is using an ear candle, your parents can help you with this too, they can buy them at the health food store or online.

Below are some good links you can check out.

Hope that helps and remember, don't stick anything in your ear, even a Q-tip until you know how to use it!

    Good luck.

    Adam-O
Honey....you don't have bees wax in your ears, you just have wax. lol.

You can use a mixture of half peroxide and half water....just drip a little bit in your ear, let it sit for a couple of minutes, and then let it drain. It's not a magical fix, but it will help a little.

If it's a serious problem, visit your doctor and they can clean your ears for you.
well i know that when people say ';mind your own beeswax'; or ';its none of ur beeswax'; it means mind your own business where im from so maybe they meant you were being nosy?

but if you really have wax in your ear then just use an ear cleaner to get it out!
    go take a shower...

    open your eye more.

    then you will see.

Has anyone Tried the Burt's Bees Shampoo/Conditioners?

Has anyone here tried to Burt's Bees shampoos and conditioners? They sound real good, full of honey and oils and such, all natural products, no sulfate or anything like that. They're like 8-9 buck a bottle though, so I was wondering if it was worth it.Has anyone Tried the Burt's Bees Shampoo/Conditioners?
honestly I think their shampoo doesn't foam alot %26amp; can leave your hair dull %26amp; difficult to comb I have use alot of shampoo %26amp; this is not the best one. avalon organic lemon shampoo or naked naturals can be your best choice.Has anyone Tried the Burt's Bees Shampoo/Conditioners?
Burt Bee products are great, a little pricey but nice. The Sugarbeet Grapefruit shampoo/conditioner has good reviews and makes your hair shiny and smells nice too.
nope they are to much just for organic

In the book secret life of Bees why does Rosaleen and lily make a trip in to town?

because its lily's birthday and she asks rosaleen if she can come with her because rosaleen wants to sign up to vote

so lily wants to go with her so she doesn't have to go to the peach stand on her birthday

Is there anything I can hang up in the yard to attract the bees and kill them?

Depends on what type of bees they are. If they are honey bees or the such, leave them alone. Bees are essential to nature and pollenating. If you are being swarmed by wasps or yellow jackets, I can understand your plight. You can buy a flying insect trap or make one yourself. Instructions are on the link below for a yellow jacket trap that doesn't attract honey bees.Is there anything I can hang up in the yard to attract the bees and kill them?
My dear..do not kill off bees. That would be as ignorant a thing to do as to cut down all your trees so you do not have to rake in the Fall. Pollination is an incredibly sacred right of the bee that we should respect. If you find hives..call a specialist and have them take it away. If a bee is in your home..kill it there for he is invading your private territory and can cause damage to your wood and person. But when you are in his territory..give them a big birth and leave them alone. Is there anything I can hang up in the yard to attract the bees and kill them?
I understand what you are saying, since I am deathly allergic to bees. I don't know what this device is called but you can find it at home and garden sections in stores. It looks like a hummingbird feeder except it is bright yellow. There is something sweet that attracts the bees and they crawl inside except they can get it out. Voila! Bees are killed via starvation. It's cruel, but I am not in the business of dying. I have about five of them all around my tiny yard, which remains bee free.
if you don't have them why do you want to attract them.

I don't think they are harming you in any way.
You can buy a hornet/yellow jacket trap at justabout any store that sells hardware and sometimes the grocery. You do run the risk of attracting them to your property unnecessarily or turning your proerty into a transit area just like having food outside and they start coming around. The goal is to get the queen and prevent her from nesting.
Bee Killer!! Why would you want to ATTRACT them and then KILL them?? Did you know if it wasn't for the bees we would all starve to death without them being able to pollinate all the plants? YEP~we wouldn't be on Yahoo wasting time right now. Think about it~

Now, flies %26amp; mosquitos are a different story!
Killing bees is a very bad idea. Bees are necessary to pollinate plants including the food we eat. There have been several natural threats to bees in recent years which is very serious so if I were you I would not be thinking about killing bees. If you're allergic to them and that's why you want to kill them, there are better ways to manage that.
    you are cruel
    Live and let live.

  • Is the secret life of bees a good book?

i have to read it for a class and i was just wondering what peoples opinions were on the book ?Is the secret life of bees a good book?
It's a great story, beautifully written and very much worth your time.

    I couldn't put it down.

The movie stinks, so don't bother. Is the secret life of bees a good book?
Yes. Definitely worth the time to read.I read it when it first came out a few years ago. I enjoyed both the book and the movie. The book has a good story line, well developed characters and good writing. Plain, beautiful prose. [The movie is good, too. Queen Latifah, Jennifer Hudson and Dakota Fanning were excellent in this movie. The entire cast was very good. You felt for and with them.] It should make for interesting discussion and essays in a class. So many themes from which to choose to write about. I'm sure you will get many different opinions about the story and the book. Depending on your personal opinions, your emotions will run the gamut. Read it. I don't think you will be disappoiinted.
I absolutely LOVED this book! It was hard to put it down, because the story line and history behind it was so interesting. As a plus, there are all these little trivia bits at the beginning of each chapter. It's a great chick book.
I would imagine it would be boring.

I hate bee's and the book would probly try to make me like them,

i hate it when books try to be persuasive.

How long do you wait before you have the birds and the bees talk?

If I understand the gist of your question, this does not belong in the zoology area. I think you're asking about talking to your child about sex and how babies are made.

As a father, I think it is important to not lie to your child. Do not tell them about some mythic stork, finding children in a cabbage patch, etc. Tell them the truth about how mommies and daddies love each other very much, they make love, and they make a baby in mommy's tummy. He grows for 9 months, and then he is born.

If you are talking about the issue of the kid having sex, I'd wait until he is about 11 years old (9 for a girl, unless she has her first period earlier than that). Be frank and honest. Do not be overly technical or biological. Don't use euphemisms, either, or you risk your child not understanding.

It will be an uncomfortable talk, to be sure. However, just ask yourself: Would you rather he hear the truth from you, or a possibly harmful lie from someone else?

Good luck! How long do you wait before you have the birds and the bees talk?
Consider another reality for your answer. Reincarnation is an integral aspect of the evolutionary journey of each Soul, so ask yourself how long it has been since you were a bird, or a bee, and that gives you your answer.

PeaceHow long do you wait before you have the birds and the bees talk?
I give appropriate information at all ages; early on I mention that animals mate and have babies, and people get married and have babies, etc. Small children gradually learn more about it. I remember at 5 my daughter didn't know the difference between mating and marriage or know the mechanics of it, but she knew that females have babies or lay eggs, and the males have to mate/marry them first for it to happen. I teach morality in a similar gradual way, as appropriate for the age.

A little before puberty is a good time to start talking about the more complicated psychological aspects of social life, embarrassment, self esteem, relations with parents and friends, between boys and girls, and the place of sex in life.
There is no set age you go per child are they exhibiting interest in the opposite sex ?? Then you should have already had that talk.
With your children? When they start asking questions of course.
The bees should be out of their hive and the birds should at least be fledged.
It's normal to have the talk around ten or eleven because they are old enough to have questions. Middles school is the time of their lives when they learn a lot of things like that so its best if you tell them about it first.
I would say we the way society is today, and kids being exposed to various things at younger ages, I would have the talk at age: 12.

In the wild who would win in a fight between 30,000 bees and 30 hornets?

Of course, the hornets would win. You might think that 30,000 over-rules 30, but a hornet is about three times as big as a bee, and they don't even need to sting them to kill. They can simply rip them to shreds. In the wild who would win in a fight between 30,000 bees and 30 hornets?

In the wild who would win in a fight between 30,000 bees and 30 hornets?
I think the bees would win.
I would say hornets...bees die after they sting something. Hornets can sting repeatedly.
If you are takeing this seriously the 30,000 bee's would win beacause the hornets may have a worse stinger but there are more bees so they have a better chance of staying alive longer and they are more powerfull
I got bees on my head, but don't call be a beehead!!!...

if both a bee and a hornet died when it got stung once the bees would win!!!

Buttt i dont no much about bees so.....the hornets seem like they would be stronger but they also are out numbered by a lot.....so thats like asking who would win between 30,000 birds and 30 hawks no one really knows unless they actually put them together and tried it......so basically your ? has almost no answer unless you talk to an expert!

Which is better the book or movie ..';The Secret Life of Bees';?

I just finished reading the book. I want to rent the movie but first I want to know if the book was better than the movie?Which is better the book or movie ..';The Secret Life of Bees';?
I find it's better not to compare books to movies. Books have an advantage in that they can tell what someone is thinking; movies have to do everything visually, which leaves some things up for interpretation. See the movie, I'm thinking if you like the book, you'll like the movie. My wife and daughter both loved it.

Why is it so hard for parents to have ';the talk'; ( you know about the birds and the bees:>) with their kids

I am a Mom of a 17 year old boy and a two year old girl, and I have no problems talking to my son about it , and look forward to talking with my daughter about it.

I can remember being a teenager like it was yesterday, so I feel I can still relate, yet educate them responsibly. If only my parents had not been so taboo about it, I would have had a much safer and kinder lesson, so I want to make sure I give that to my kids. Why is it so hard for parents to have ';the talk'; ( you know about the birds and the bees:%26gt;) with their kids
I have a 12 years old daughter, and a 9 years old son, my daughter pretty much know about through school, and sometimes I feel guilty, having to let the school teach your own kid about sex ed., Its just so hard to talk about it to them, because I fear that it motivates them more about sex, then stopping them, ( I know, Its weird) but now, I waiting to give my son, the talk. I'll still let the school do the work, but I tell both of them about it soon. Why is it so hard for parents to have ';the talk'; ( you know about the birds and the bees:%26gt;) with their kids
my mom never talks to me about it. the first time i heard about my period was from my friend in 5th grade. i acted like i knew what they were saying and googled it later. i don't know anything more than the changes i will go though from health. kinda embarssing but i guess i will find out as i go along.
My mom is CONSISTENTLY talking to me about it...sometimes it is embarassing, but that doesn't stop her from telling me the facts, and what she personally believes is alright and was is not...last week she found out that i was thinking about sex with my BF and she flipped, and i have been hearing ';the talk'; everyday for like a week.

But she has always been really open with me, and when i was eleven and started my period we had talked about it, and she was the one i wanted when it happened...so i guess not all parents are like that....
I didnt know parents still did that..

I learned about it in school and from experience (not sure that was the best thing to do) but i have a daughter and i think it would be a bit harder to talk to a girl than a boy.

So when my daughter asks me where babies come from.

I guess it will be one of those GO ASK YOUR MOTHER moments.
I think a lot of parents don't want to think about their child having sex. However, I think the parents should get over it, as its their responsibility to educate their child.
It was never discussed at all in my household when I was younger. I was in Grade 5 when I learned about it. My mom didn't even tell me that girls get their periods. I had to learn that on my own, through a video in grade 5. I was 10 1/2 when I got my period. I would explain to my son when he is older about the talk, I have no taboos about it like my ultra conservative parents. I am more open to ideas and subjects. It is all what parenting is about, mainly communication.

What do you think of the Secret Life of Bees..?

What is your personal evaluation of the novel (The Secret Life of Bees)? How did you like it and what did you think of it? Explain why and how..

Thanks, I just want to get your opinions.. I don't know if i want to read it or not for school..What do you think of the Secret Life of Bees..?
Well from personal experience i loved the book, i think it's more of a book for girls because the main character is lilly a 14 year old. I first came across the book last summer, read it and loved it! I've read it about 3 times since. And it wasn't required for school!

I would suggest it to any of my friends, and i can't wait until the movie comes out i think in october! What do you think of the Secret Life of Bees..?
Although I have a bunch to complain about, overall, the book was well written. The main character overcomes racism, even though it is not pointed in her direction, abuse, and she tries to find out the mystery of her mother's death, which she thinks is her fault. The story is set in the 1950s or 60s in which there was a civil rights movement. The main character, Lily, sets out to find her mother's past.

    Hope I helped! =]
i was forced to read it as a freshman and didnt really enjoy it but being forced to read probably was helping the books case. it was an ok book i guess but i wouldnt have read it if i didnt have to.
it was pretty good. It was a really easy read, though. The main character is about fifteen; if that helps you.

Question about the movie ';The Secret Life of Bees'; (Food Related)?

The father makes his daughter kneel on a pile of grits to punish her. How does kneeling on a pile of grits burn you? I thought it was a corn-based porridgy food.Question about the movie ';The Secret Life of Bees'; (Food Related)?
Ever kneel on pebbles, or gravel. It digs into your skin, just like the grits would. And kneeling on it with all your weight for 10 minutes sounds like a punishment to me. Question about the movie ';The Secret Life of Bees'; (Food Related)?
It's like kneeling on raw rice - little particles that dig into your knees and hurt.

So I'm thinking the grits weren't cooked.
Th uncooked grain particles are spiky so they kind of dig into her skin.
idk, maybe they were really hot?

Why are bees disappearing all over the country? Beekeepers call it 'colony collapse disorder'?

There are alot of theories out there but I don't know if anyone has said ';This is it!';. Some have said environmental and weather effects, others say cell phone towers, and then the majority of theories are that it is the middle east virus. My colony has survived and as of November 2007 were still buzzing. I have them in a remote part of Eastern Kentucky so they have miles of land where they would only run into native bees. Bats now are also dying or disappearing and many scientists think it could because of the same reason. Why are bees disappearing all over the country? Beekeepers call it 'colony collapse disorder'?
the cause (or causes) are as yet unclear -nutritional and viral stresses seem to be more suspected than environmental or toxic hazards-however-nothing has been absolutely proven yet- this problem is still not solved-the anwer to your question is not yet known. Why are bees disappearing all over the country? Beekeepers call it 'colony collapse disorder'?
Saw an interesting documentary the other night regarding this exact thing.

Apparently they think it might have something to do with the new insectecides which contain a form of nicotine which causes neurological disorder, memory loss, etc. Which would explain how the bees are affected considering that they are marvels at finding their way home and RARELY leave hives full of larvae.

It is potentially a quite serious problem.

There has been research on that recently and they say that it can be from surtain things like exporting bees from different locations and or some sort of bad decease

At what age is it appropriate to talk to kids about the birds and the bees?

Did your parents have the talk with you?

How old were you?At what age is it appropriate to talk to kids about the birds and the bees?
Sex isn't something you bring up at age 10 or 12...

You have to answer the questions as they come up.

Give an age appropriate answer and hope they

understand what you are trying to convey. Even

if the child is only 2, your answer should meet

his needs. There are many books on the subject

in your public library. There are also films(DVD)

    for the older children.

.At what age is it appropriate to talk to kids about the birds and the bees?
My parents have NEVER given me the talk and I'm 17. They know I have a good head on my shoulders.

But I loved how my mom just went to the library, and got me a book about everything when i was 10-11. It talked about how bodies change and about sex and everything. I appreciated that so I could learn on my own without having to be embarrassed by ';the talk';.
I learned about Puberty in the 5th Grade and I learn about STDs in the 7th Grade. So It's Best To Talk to them before they move onto Middle School, Because that is the time when relationships click.
thanks to public schools, the Internet, and tv nobody has ';the talk'; anymore lol.
a child should at least know the location of private areas as soon as they are able to talk, even if you have to give it a nickname. When my niece was 2yrs old she used to say that she needs her pamper washed which was her genitals. I wouldn't start talking to a kid about sex until the age of 8 but on the level that he/she could understand it. You don't want to expose them too much, yet you have to educate them enough.
I'd say about 10. My parents never talked to me about it.
I'm 20 years old. I know all about it from girl books on puberty and stuff. My parents NEVER talked to me about it. Just gave me the books. I thought it was a fantastic way to go about it. I'd hate to talk about sex with them, y'know? *shudders*

But... I wish they gave me the books BEFORE I started puberty. O_O
Usually when they ask about it. My mother gave me ';the talk'; when I was about 8. I think I told my son when he was around 10. My husband was given a book, when he was 16!!!
I think I was about 11 or twelve, and my mom was telling me, ';When you are older, you may experience certain feelings...' When I told her that I already did, she didn't quite believe me...
My parents haven't had the talk with me yet. But I already know what it is, so don't clue me in!

  • What do bees do in the winter?

Like hibernate? Or what? What do bees do in the winter?
Honey bees form a ball around the queen and become dormant.

Bumble bees are more solitary, and winter underground.

Bumblebee queens sometimes seek winter safety in honey bee hives, where they are sometimes found dead in the spring by beekeepers, presumably stung to death by the honey bees. It is unknown whether any survive winter in such an environment.

Widely known as the ';killer bee';, Africanized bees are highly aggressive hybrids between European stock and the African subspecies A. m. scutellata; they are thus often called ';Africanized bees';. Originating by accident in Brazil, they have spread to North America and constitutes a pest in some regions. However, these strains do not overwinter well, and so are not often found in the colder, more Northern parts of North America. What do bees do in the winter?
take their show to sunny alcapulco where they party all night and party all day. GO BEES! YAY!
    most species hibernate
    Yes, the hibernate, sort of.

The huddle very closely together in their hive to preserve heat.

My dad keeps bees for honey.
    Drink mead and party. :)
    they die

apart from the queen I think

Is it true that girl bees rule over boy bees and are in control of the hive?

In a bee social system, there isn't really a hyerarchy. So I wouldn't say the girls rule. But it is true that all the ones you ever see in flowers are girls. The boys just live long enough to mate. In a hive, there is no controller or ruler, they all just make honey and build beeswax. Even the queen does no more than lay eggs, she doen't tell them what to do. The queen doesn't get royal jelly because it is better and it's reserved for the elite, but because she needs special nutrition for her special job. I would think that the males have equil rights in the hive. Here, if you have time, look at this. It is where I got all the info.Is it true that girl bees rule over boy bees and are in control of the hive?
i think you need to do a little more research. there are quite a few errors in your response. Report Abuse
Is it true that girl bees rule over boy bees and are in control of the hive?
For honey bees: In a sense, sure--but the queen doesn't actually issue commands or direct anything. Also the worker bees are technically female though they don't reproduce with the other ';boy'; bees (drones).

Also, it would be girl bee (singular) as all the other possible queens are not protected in the same manner as the hive queen and will probably be killed unless they move to start their own hive.
Not really girl beeS more like one girl bee.

But the term 'rule' is a bot misleading. They are insects and its not like they have free will. They are more like biological automaton programmed by evolution into filling an optimal role for the good of the hive. Like ants (close relative of them) they quickly transform to play a very highly specialized role.

The queen been has a unique role in the hive and is sole responsible of the reproduction (it makes sense; it is very taxing on female -a real full time job).As such; the queen bee spends it days sitting around and eating (also producing eggs) and is served by a small army of 'nurses'.

And, she is the most difficult bee to replace (the only that can not be replaced in a few days really) as such the queen bee is extremely protected and cared of.

All of these was reminiscent of the situation for a human ruler...
'rule over' is an interesting term that you use.

i am going to assume that you are talking about the honeybee as well.

in a hive, no one gender 'rules over' a hive.

each gender has a specific role to play.

the queen bee sole purpose is to lay eggs and reproduce.

the workers bee's roles are the gather food, nectar and pollen, to sustain the hive, feed the larvae bee's etc.

male drones are raised, really, to just fertilize the queen. after this is done, the males are disposed of from the hive as they have served their purpose.

the queen doesnt get off that easy as well. when deemed appropriate, the worker bee's will start feeding some larvae royal jelly (queen bee food) to grow another queen. the first one out, fights with the existing queen for dominance. the loser usually leaves and takes a portion of the hive with her to establish a new hive aka swarming.

so, to answer your question directly: do female bees 'rule over' the male bees? the answer from a purely utilitarian perspective and taking out 'human emotion', then the answer would be 'no'.
Yes. There is the Queen Bee which is the only bee that can have babies. The rest are all males and they are workers, diggers, guards, drones. They all have jobs and stations and do what the Queen demands. There is only one female per colony and if the Queen has female babies then they will grow up and eventually move out to become Queen's of their own colony and take some of the workers and what not from her mother's colony. What the discovery channel on it, it is very interesting and they take inside the colonies hive as they are moving a new Queen into her first home.
Just like in life: My ';Queenie'; rule all over me and she is in control of the hive...and I am just the Drone Bee and the worker bee alike!!

So basically when the ';boy'; bees get mad , they run away and disappeared, so this is one of the reason for the so called ';colony collapse'; :) So to all you girl bees, take good care of your drones!!!
Not exactly. The queen be is served by the other (sterile) females. The male bees are drones, are also served by the sterile females and do nothing other than mate with the queen. It's a tough job but somebody has to do it.
    Yes, that's true.

    The female bee is called ';The Queen.';

The male bees are called drones.

When the Queen dies, the drones are

    left to fend for themselves.

I overheard drone say to another, ';Well,

this is another find mess you got me

    into, Stanley.';
Just like with all creatures, neither can exist without the other. The queen bee provides the workforce and the workforce provides her food and security in order to make more workers. It's rather cyclical if you think about it. :)
yup all they do is sit n lay eggs and eat ..the guy bees have to do all the food collecting..also the queen bee is the biggest , in size, it rules over all the worker bees..
absoulutly you never heard of a king bee hav you......... no
yeah ever heard of the queen bee?

  • How to drive out bees from the bee hive in your garden?

call a local bee keeper(apiarist), it might be a lost hive or the bee keeper might be interested in capturing it, all ';wild'; bees are from domestic stock, but domestic hives divide(swarm) and get lost.

Yellow pages, might be under bees, beekeepers, apiaries. Worth chancing a phone call or two, beats getting all stung up trying it yourself if you do not know what you are doing, otherwise call an exterminator. some people are allergic to bee stings and can die if they get stung but most people it just hurts and swells a little. How to drive out bees from the bee hive in your garden?
First of all, you should try to call professional help if possible. If not possible, then have a fly swatter, petrol (gasoline) mixed with some moter oil for stickiness, a cigarette lighter, and a working water hose. Put gasoline mixture on the hive. Light the hive. Then spray the remains of the hive with the water hose to try and catch as many bees as possible. If something is still burning, throw lots of dirt on it. If bees come to you in a close combat situation, swat them. If you cannot eliminate them all and they chase you, make sure to escape to a segregated environment, such as a closed shelter. Rinse yourself and repeat the petrol burning when they seem to go away. Make sure not to burn your place up. I hope I helped my friendHow to drive out bees from the bee hive in your garden?
You can spray the hive with water to stop the bees from protecting their home while you remove it. This is a job best suited to two people, one to keep the water spraying while the other destroys the hive. If you are allergic call a professional.
You have to find the queen and get it out on a stick and the others bee will follow the queen.
wait untill evening when most all of them are in there for the night and spray a good poison on them.

Saturate the nest and that should kill them off.
    Smoke
wear some body protection and just keep on poking the hive with your favorite stick. I think you can also start a fire under the hive to smoke the bees out
I would highly recommend using a foaming bee spray. You can find it at most hordware stores (and I bet Wal-Mart carries it too). It works well because you can spray into the entrance of the hive and it foams up and prevents bees from attacking you.

I have used this product to remove many hives, and I've never been stung while using it.

Yes, they do. But unlike hornets and wasps, they aren't as likely to sting if they need to defend themselves. Wasps have smooth stingers, so they can sting as much as they please. But bumbles and honey bees have barbed stingers which are left in the stung skin, and then the bee dies afterward.
Yes, and they hurt, but these bees will probably die after they sting you, so they usually only sting when you threaten them, like try to swat them.
Yea. I wish more bees were like them. They could care less if you're around while other bees love to tick everyone off. If only bees knew that they're prolly gonna die after they sting..
Yeah, the bumblers have stings, they're just harder to provoke than normal honey bees. Still hurts if the get you though.
Yes, but you aren't too likely to get stung by one unless you try to grab it.
only if you make it extremely pissed

  • In the bee hive, do the bees that work really hard get a reward and do the slackers get a punishment.?

A honeybee hive's division of labor is based on sex. The Queen, if she lays fertilized eggs, produces only females. Those become the workers who, depending on their age, maintain the hive, and forage for food. Most of the year the hive is composed only of females.

An unfertilized egg becomes a male.... called a drone. To call a human a drone is not a compliment. Drones do not maintain the hive nor do they forage. In fact, the workers end up feeding them. They only have a reproductive role.

You ask if the drones get a punishment? If food is scarce, the workers do not feed the drones and they die of starvation. In the bee hive, do the bees that work really hard get a reward and do the slackers get a punishment.?
That didn't work out so well - way back in the beginning of time (so the story goes) the slacker bees were all sentenced by the Queen to have their heads cut off. Alas, when the day arrived for the sentence to be carried out, the executioner bee was unable to do his grisly work - it turned out that the slacker bees (and indeed every other bee as well) were already Bee-headed. Get it? ';beheaded';? Oh, never mind..In the bee hive, do the bees that work really hard get a reward and do the slackers get a punishment.?
    There are no slackers.

Our tailgating group has trouble with bees. What is the best way to keep them away from the party?

Have you tried those bee traps? They're a big plastic jar with some kind of yellowish liquid in it. The liquid attracts the bees through holes in the plastic, but then the bees are trapped in the liquid.

Otherwise, I would invest in a screen tent. I think they're about $50 and at least put the food in there.

Bees do not like loud noise. Yell 'BOO!' at them and they fly away. Our tailgating group has trouble with bees. What is the best way to keep them away from the party?
Are they honeybees or little yellow ';meat bee's?'

Honeybees might like a bit of soda in a bowl of their own, somewhere away from you.

';Meat Bees'; can be trapped with a device you can get at most hardware stores. It's a cap that goes over an old mayonaise jar, that allows them in, but not out. You put some meat in the jar, screw on the special lid, and set it away from you.
I would print in bold letters on all the invitations.

  • Serious answers only! Is there any connection between the disappearance of honey bees and ';Chem-trails';?

I know you are thinking weird, but don't we have to ask as many questions as possible to find the answer and hopefully a solution?!

Some people claim that ';chem-trails'; make them sick. If that's true, don't we need to ask what kind of changes plants, animals, insects and people might be experiencing because of aerial pollution?

Just want answers so our planet is healthy for all living things!Serious answers only! Is there any connection between the disappearance of honey bees and ';Chem-trails';?
As far as I know, there are no connections between reduced honeybee populations and the so-called 'chem trails'.

In some areas, parasitic varroa mites have been fingered as one of the primary culprits in the loss of honeybee populations.

However, other forms of 'aerial pollution' and pesticide use are quite likely having a major impact on honeybees and other, native pollinators in North America.

In many areas, especially urban and suburban environments, pesticides are over-used, even when they are not necessary. There is a perception that clover and dandelions in a lawn are 'bad', and the only good lawn is one that is nothing but a mono-culture of thick, green grass. However, those 'weeds' provide important food resources for critters like honeybees. Without them, they can't survive, and as urban areas expand more and more into rural land, these pesticide rich, weed free lawns help to wipe out more and more bees.

Overuse of pesticides, often at inappropriate times, on crops like cotton also wipes out many pollinators. Fogging for mosquitoes in many regions wipes out even more. The spread of fire ants throughout the south has also wiped out large numbers of ground-nesting bees.

There's no need to look to mysterious 'chem-trails' to find pollutants that kill our bees. There's plenty of poisons being dumped into our ecosystems through more overt means.Serious answers only! Is there any connection between the disappearance of honey bees and ';Chem-trails';?
To answer this question, we would have to find out what chemicals, if any, are being dumped, why, and (presumably) by whom.

The posited chemtrails are not ordinary aerial pollution, which we do have a pretty good knowledge of.

In the meantime, we can look for other causes of hive collapse.

Whatever the cause, I would not be surprised if the bee population made a spontaneous recovery from this epidemic. Insects, having a rapid rate of reproduction, make genetic adaptations much more quickly than humans do. You can see this in the way insects develop resistance to pesticides.
The so-called ';chemtrails'; are a conspiracy theory dreamt up by someone with no understanding of atmospheric physics or aeroplanes. I know there are umpteen web pages about them but quantity does not mean quality. The trails are condensation trails or contrails produced by aeroplanes. Meteorologists have only known about these things for seventy years or so and can calculate where and when they will form. The Government is not dumping chemicals on the population.

I know that it is impossible to persuade some people that their pet nutty idea is wrong so I don't really care whether or not you believe me but despite everything you read about them, these things are just contrails.

In the secret life of bees why is it important for lily to have a motherly figure in her life?

the importance of a mother for a young girlIn the secret life of bees why is it important for lily to have a motherly figure in her life?
sounds like you just answered your own question. The same reason why its important for a boy to have a father figure as well. Someone they can look up to, a good role model. They can relate on a man to man basis or women to women. It will also pretty much set the course for how they interact with the opposite sex later on and their general perspective of how they view life and social situations.

PLEASE call in a professional exterminator, or look up a listing for the removal of wasps. They can be very nasty and are always unpredictable, and can cause serious health problems and death in some instances.

A lot of Realty companys usually have access to someone who does that sort of thang as they have to make sure that their properties are safe for eventual sale or open houses. We have large (2';) bees that have burrowed into our lawn, nexting under the ground. how can i get rid of them
I used Wasp and Hornet spray. Wait until after dark and spray into the opening. Give it a really good dose.
Spray some bleachy, soapy water all over your yard.

Did your parents ever warn you about the birds and the bees?

They never warned me about it, they just told me about it.

What's to fear about something so natural?Did your parents ever warn you about the birds and the bees?
They didn't exactly warn me about it but they told me about it at a young age. If I asked a question, they answered honestly.

My parents took in foster children who were teen girls. Some were pregnant. So by the age of 7 I knew the basics. They didn't keep any information away from me.Did your parents ever warn you about the birds and the bees?
I was informed what sex was and all but I was never warned against it. I think that's partially the reason why I stumbled into bad habits young. Which, thankfully, I have made a complete 360 turnaround and am no longer that type of person.
I learned all I needed to know on my own. I stumbled into a nest of Yellow Jackets.

Edit: Ash-------that 360 put you back where you started.
No. I was 14 and started going out...And then my mom just started yelling at me about having had sex already.
yep my mom just told me it was ';a special kind of hugging and kissing'; that made a baby
    No topic in those years.
    nope.
yes that was a long time ago..

Can you name the song with lyrics about blooming honeysuckles, wandering bees, honeydews, and flowery perfumes?

The song that you describe is probably ';The Honeysuckle and the Bee'; from the movie ';Broadway to Hollywood'; (1933). The music (melody) was written by William H. Penn (as Wm. H. Penn), and the lyrics were penned by Albert H. Fitz (as Alb. H. Fitz) in 1901. It was performed (recorded) by Arthur Collins (1901); Harry Macdonough (1901); Ben Albert (1901); Robert Price (1902); Julie Andrews (1962), Ian Whitcomb %26amp; His Bungalow Boys (1991); and Jane Arden, Diana Palmerston %26amp; John Asquith (1995). It was also recorded by Belle Davies %26amp; The Piccaninnies; Georgia Brown; Tessie O'Shea; The Paragon Ragtime Orchestra; William Flynn %26amp; His Old Time Dance Music; and Patricia Hammond.

    The lyrics are:

    On a summer afternoon,

    Where the honeysuckles bloom,

When all nature seemed at rest.

    ‘Neath a little rustic bower,

Mid the perfume of the flower,

A maiden sat with one she loved the best.

As they sang the songs of love,

    From the arbour just above,

    Came a bee which lit upon the vine;

    As it sipped the honey-dew,

They both vowed they would be true,

Then he whispered to her words she thought divine.

    You are my honey, honeysuckle,

    I am the bee,

I’d like to sip the honey sweet

From those red lips, you see

    I love you dearly, dearly,

And I want you to love me,

    You are my honey, honeysuckle,

    I am the bee.

So beneath that sky so blue,

These two lovers fond and true,

With their hearts so filled with bliss,

As they sat there side by side,

He asked her to be his bride,

She answered “Yes” and sealed it with a kiss.

For her heart had yielded soon,

    ‘Neath the honeysuckle bloom,

And thro’ life they’d wander day by day.

And he vowed just like the bee,

“I will build a home for thee,”

And the bee then seemed to answer them and say:

    You are my honey, honeysuckle,

    I am the bee,

I’d like to sip the honey sweet

From those red lips, you see

    I love you dearly, dearly,

And I want you to love me,

    You are my honey, honeysuckle,

    I am the bee.
