Why is talking about sex called the birds and the bees?

As such it's the perfect euphemism for a culture so prudish that even publishers of girlie magazines used to airbrush out the pubic hair.

Where exactly ';the birds and the bees'; originated nobody knows, but word sleuths William and Mary Morris hint that it may have been inspired by words like these from the poet Samuel Coleridge: ';All nature seems at work ... The bees are stirring--birds are on the wing ... and I the while, the sole unbusy thing, not honey make, nor pair, nor build, nor sing.'; Making honey, pairing ... yes, we can definitely tell what Sam had on his mind.

The Morrises offer the theory that schools in years past taught about sex by ';telling how birds do it and how bees do it and trusting that the youngsters would get the message by indirection.'; Right. Luckily for the perpetuation of the species, there's always been Louie in the schoolyard to explain how things really worked. Why is talking about sex called the birds and the bees?
because bees have a penis and birds have a vaginaWhy is talking about sex called the birds and the bees?

Bees make honey = Man
i have no idea. i think its rediculous.
when we ppl talk about sex,the children try to interrup and ask,';what is sex?'; so to prevent that kind of unanswerable jazz,we tend to relate sex with ordinary stuff, which children or other onlookers never care about...birds and the bees is someones idea to implement this..aint it cool?

so,we can approach a lady and ask her without being so modest,';hai honey, wanna see some birds and bees???'; hahaha!

maybe because that was a nicer way of putting it back in the day..or maybe it was like a code word that parents could talk about infront of their children...I don't really know.
grandma made it up!lol
its called pollination i think thats how you spell it. the bird carries plants, passes the seeds on and other plants grow. sort of like the thought process of humans. when you have sex you pass seeds on to have babies.
We dont call it like that. We just call it ********.
It's a way of explaining the process of reproduction to a child - bees distribute the pollen from flower to flower and they make baby flowers. Birds lay eggs, and a while later out pops a baby chick. It's something you can show to a child without needing to go into other details. Also, it takes away all the fun, because as a parent you don't want you child to be the one demonstrating their 'bees' to 'birds', if you get my drift.
Because cave men would use bee sting poison as aphrodesiacs. They also raped pigeons.
because the birds and the bees do it to? I have no clue actually
because........ uhhhhhhhhhh i dont know
