How did you learn about the birds and the bees and what sort of tale wher you told about how you were born,?

as a kidHow did you learn about the birds and the bees and what sort of tale wher you told about how you were born,?
well i sorta learnt bits and pieces from here and there, and my cuzins had an um interesting book that i saw wen i was younger, health from yr5 upwards gave me wat i needed 2 no,How did you learn about the birds and the bees and what sort of tale wher you told about how you were born,?
I was never told about it.... discovered it on my own through media and books. And yes even as a kid.... I figured out what sex was all about....
I mostly learnt from television and books. I was of the time when parents did not speak of such things to their children.

I made sure I talked about everything with my own daughter.
My mother explained the birds and the bees to me by telling me how bees pollunate flowers. Then she got a book out and read it to me, it was about how chickens lay eggs and then eggs develop in to chiicks. She also made mention of how the neighborhood male dog would come by once in awhile to visit our female dog leaving her pregnant and alone. Yes you would think this would scar me. Did I tell you my mom is Roman Catholic.
I learned through my Parents and books my Parents gave me and then I learned it all over again in school.

As for how I came to be...

I got the typical ';when two people love each other'; story.

That and this really good book with pictures in it that looked like paper cut outs and it showed how dogs and people and even flowers pro-create.
I wasn't given any fairytales, like the stork. When I asked, my parents told me. When I was very young, it was age appropriate, and as I got older, they got more specific.
I grew up on a farm. There was no room for a tall story, it was right there in front of us.

  • What are some ways NOT to talk to your kids about the ';birds and the bees';....?

For starters, don't unleash a hive of bees in a bird sanctuary, I don't know WHAT I was thinking......What are some ways NOT to talk to your kids about the ';birds and the bees';....?
Don't show them clips of the Mantis's doing it ..... she bites off his head and he's still goes at it. Talk about motivation. What are some ways NOT to talk to your kids about the ';birds and the bees';....?
A home made video would definitly be pretty bad, like if your parents where doing it in the video, that would be very very scaring.

Obscure metaphors like this will have them confused for the rest of their lives.
If you're gonna demonstrate how to put a condom on a parakeet, have band-aids handy.
Don't buy them one of those pop up books and tell them you will quizz them on it later. You will NEVER get them out of the bathroom.
never compare people to dogs,if they've ever seen dogs stuck together, omg, they laugh themselves sick ; D
Don't use the term 'Jenna Jamison' or 'Ron Jeremy' in said discussion.

(thats how i figured it out )

How do you explain the birds and the bees to a child as my cousin has just turned 12 & started asking me?

I explained to my ten year old a month ago.

I sat her down and gave her the facts in a straight forward way. Mentioned love, pleasure, babies and being careful.

Afterwards I said she could always ask if she needed to know more and she had one question:

Where do the birds and bees come in to it?How do you explain the birds and the bees to a child as my cousin has just turned 12 %26amp; started asking me?
My wife bought a book for my 10 yr old son, which shows all the shpaes, sizes and bits of both males and females, where if you're old enough and mature enough you read and absorb.

My 10yr old was embarrassed and put the book aside, but my 5 yr old daughter thought it was really interesting and she now knows how to make a baby !How do you explain the birds and the bees to a child as my cousin has just turned 12 %26amp; started asking me?
Tell your cousin everything. If you don't s/he will look for the wrong answer somewhere else. Also mention it to your aunt and uncle. I personally think they should have had this conversation with your cousin a lot earlier than 12.
Not at 12 it's too young
I think many people suffer because adults dont respect the straight questions a child has, which just need a straight answer. Get a good book and if his parents agree go through it with him/her, or ask his/her parents to do this. Out in the open is my motto, but be sensitive and caring.
never understood it myself, surely the bird would get stung
These days, 12 does seem a little late to begin asking questions. My daughter is only 7 and has already picked up bits and bobs of information about 'where the babies come from'! I don't think that there is a particular age and that we, as adults, should answer a child's questions with straightforward, truthful answers.

In this case though, I would say that you should speak with your Aunt or Uncle because they may want to tell your cousin about it in a different way. I agree with someone else who said, they should have already told him/her about these things already!
    Get him some porn.
It is the responsibility of your Uncle and Aunt to be the one to explain it. If your cousin asks you, let your Aunt and Uncle know that questions are being asked. That would be the right thing to do, and not take the responsibility upon yourself.
Be honest and answer anything they ask without making a big issue out of it....its a shame its still such a taboo subject...12 is a little late to start asking (they probably already know some jumbled facts from friends)

start by using the correct terminology, never did quite understand the birds and bees description?
well kiddo, some birds like bees, some bees like birds, other birds fly after birds, some bees buzz for other bees, then there are those bees that buzz for bees and birds, and birds that fly for both bees and birds... then there are birds that get changed to bees so they can buzz and there are some bees that get transformed into birds so they can fly...
you could beat around the bush, and get yourself in a right pickle , or do your homework, learn the facts, get hold of some diagrams (decent ones) and give it to them straight.

failing that, tell them to ask mummy or daddy, but your turn will come one day!
Well they both have wings but one has feathers and the other has short hairs.
Ur cousion should have done sex education at primary schhol when he was 11.
Are there not books on that sort of thing aimed at pre-teens? Probably worth talking it through with your aunt first though - you wouldn't wish to overstep the mark.
tell him to go ask his mom/dad

if you tell him something that his parents don't want him to know they could get really mad

%26lt;3Does drugstores like rite-aid and Longs Drugs sell the burt's bees and the bee-luscious products?
I know Walgreens sells Burts Bees.
You won't find Bee-Luscious in a drugstore the quality is too high. You might find it in the department store but I don't know. I've been asking for it and so far I can only get it on-line. Customer service did tell me once they were going to start franchising out but I don't know how that is going.
ya the also sell them at Cvs many places
i know burts bee is at target. i saw it like 5 months ago.
    cvs does
I think Bee-Luscious is only available on-line.I know the quality is much higher than Burt's Bees.

I love Bee-Luscious it's the best. Just do a Google search for Bee-Luscious. They have so much stuff to look at.
